Screen Time Alternatives

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) continues to revise recommendations for screen time in developing children, based on the realities of today’s world. New recommendations focus on the healthiest possible uses of screens, presented in part 1 of this tool. Part 2 of this tool explores the psycho-social reasons that video games and social media — the more addicting applications of screen time — have such universal appeal. It also suggests real-world replacement activities, policies and procedures that can satisfy human needs in ways that support healthy development.
