Literacy Everywhere

You can ensure a strong literacy focus in your 21st CCLC program by implementing these Six Key Strategies:

  1. Create an environment that facilitates literacy acquisition.
  2. Expose children to a wide variety of high-interest reading and writing materials.
  3. Use project-based learning to facilitate authentic connections between learning and life.
  4. Incorporate digital technology and other 21st-century learning tools.
  5. Involve families in meaningful learning experiences.
  6. Empower students through learning, and celebrate success.

It’s equally important to make sure that you include literacy-building activities in all aspects of your program. Check out Literacy Everywhere for a list of activities that will build skills across your program.
