Building a Successful Team

An effective 21st CCLC team can make a collective difference in the literacy development of the youth it serves. But high-performing teams don’t occur by chance; they must be carefully cultivated. Here are some important tips for building a team that will succeed in any endeavor it may take on:

  • Get to know each other through team-building activities.
  • Establish a common purpose and achievable goals.
  • Clearly define each team member’s role and responsibilities in achieving the common purpose.
  • Acknowledge and reward hard work.
  • Celebrate individual and team success often!

Check out Teampedia for a variety of team building activities.

Reflect on This

In what ways has my team accomplished some of these ideas? In what ways can my team improve? Jot down some ideas in My Notebook.
