“There is no one way to work with a child with special needs,” said Manina Urgolo Huckvale, Ed.D., Associate Professor and Chair of the William Paterson University Department of Special Education and Counseling, during a Y4Y quarterly webinar last year. Dr. Huckvale and her colleague Jeanne D’Haem, Ph.D., offered strategies and advice for 21st Century Community Learning Centers and other afterschool programs who want to do more to serve their students with special needs.

Watch the webinar recording to learn more about meeting compliance requirements, see some examples and develop new ideas for adapting programming for students with special needs, and learn strategies to make sure that everyone, students and staff included, understands and celebrates students with special needs.

You can also download the PowerPoint slides to use in staff development on this important topic. You may also want to take a look at the other webinar recordings and materials in Y4Y’s Archived Webinars.
